Jazz Hands

I found “Meet the Life Hackers,” the New York Times Magazine article about “human-computer interactions,” oddly well timed in light of an increased compulsion to surf the web with no purpose whatsoever. Much appreciated were the following sentiments on the state of perpetual electronic diversion as expressed by Merlin Mann:

“We’d rather die than be bored for a few minutes, so we just surround ourselves with distractions.”

“Unless you’re working in a Korean missile silo, you don’t need to check e-mail every two minutes.”

But then, you still end up googling “jazz hands,” and you learn that someone else in the world has as well, and a warm feeling of harmonic convergence floods all over you.
